I just added
a new family member last night. I will tell you all about him. Atleast what
I know. He is a 5 ft long BEAUTIFUL iggy. He was very well loved at one point
and time. Im not sure of exact weight but around 15 to 20 lbs seems right.
He was a county away from me and was found crossing the highway. His tail
had been run over. A woman stopped and got him. He was very friendly and was
obviously loved. She kept him for a while and then learned just how much care
had to go into him when she took him to a vet. He had about 8 inches of his
tail removed and she had no idea on care. The vet tech informed her of all
the daily needs and the lady decided to surrender him as she could not provide.
THANK YOU LADY. So the vet did the amputation and the tech fell in love with
him. She decided to take him home. Then she realized she could not or did
not want to do it so they called an animal shelter. The animal shelter had
no room so a man called the owner of the pet store that I deal with. They
have been friends for quite some time so he agreed to take him. I went in
to the store to see another iggy that had been turned into the store and I
asked about the whereabouts of the other iggy. The owner said he had no room
to put him yet so he was in a bag in the back. I asked to see him. I went
to the back and saw this BAG moving. I went to go pick it up and see if he
was ok.After feeling the weight of this iggy, I told the owner he was mine.
That if he had given me SCAR a long time ago that SCAR would still be as big
but NOOOOO he had to sell him and I still ended out with him and now he had
to go through all the pain that he endured. So to prevent this healthy guy
from being abused like SCAR was, he should just let me take him. He said "Well,
why not" I was so overjoyed! A huge healthy iggy. So being an iggy lover
I brought him home.
What a teddy bear he is! He loves to be held and snuggled. So I created a
home for him with all the lights, branches, etc., and he is doing wonderful.
In regard to the previous owners, there was signs placed in stores, shelters,
etc., to try to reunite them but no word. This whole process went on for 6
months. No word from them. I figure he got out and ran or they were just tired
of him.
